Should Gas Stations Be Able to Sell Beer and Wine in Stoneham?

The Board of Selectmen overturned a decision to allow the Mobil Station on Main Street and South Street to sell beer and wine on Tuesday.

We at Patch want to know where you stand on this issue.

Do you think the gas station should be able to sell beer and wine? Is it too easy kids to get their hands on beer this way? Does it encourage a driver to buy alcohol on drink on the ride home? Or is it one less stop in your day? Is it noble for the owner to try and make a little extra?

Let us know in the comments section.

I was glad for the Town of Stoneham to see the Selectmen reconsider their previous 3 to 2 vote in favor of granting a liqueur license, to 5 to 0 against. In trying to create a better Stoneham for children and families, the Selectmen made a good decision. This decision in no way reflects on the owner of the Mobil gas station at the corner of Main and South who runs a good business. The decision is based solely on what is best for Stoneham and the Selectmen did right by the town.
