Tickets to Hallmark Health Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice's "Santa's Polar Express," are now available. The event is taking place on Saturday, December 8, with train rides departing from the Anderson Commuter Rail Station, 100 Atlantic Avenue in Woburn. Tickets sell out fast, so purchasing them early is advised.
Santa, Mrs. Claus, Rudolph and friends are already preparing for their ride on Santa's Polar Express. The event, which is in its fourth year, is six cars and an engine leased from the MBTA and decorated to duplicate the train in Chris Van Allsburg's award-winning children's book, The Polar Express. Monies raised support Hallmark Health Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice's Maternal/Child Health Program and North Suburban Child and Family Resource Network.
Santa's Polar Express makes four runs: noon, 2:00pm, 4:00pm, and 6:00pm. Guests on board the train enjoy cocoa and cookies while listening to the reading of The Polar Express by local storytellers as they await a visit from Santa. Children enjoy singing holiday songs, participating in holiday trivia, and interacting with Santa and his friends.
Cost for this 60-minute round trip adventure is $20 per adult and $15 per child. Children under the age of one ride free, but must sit on the lap of an adult. The train departs from Anderson Commuter Rail in Woburn and travels to North Station and back to Anderson Station with no stops.
