THE CUMMINGS FOUNDATION HELPS SUPPORT STONEHAM THEATRE'S EDUCATION PROGRAM

The Cummings Foundation was founded by Joyce and Bill Cummings of Winchester, Masschusetts in 1986 as a Massachusetts trust. It was originally organized expressly to "give back" to the communities in which Cummings Properties does business.  The Cummings Foundation continues to provide ongoing support to hundreds of local causes.  Its $100K for 100 program seeks to support non-profits in the Greater Boston area.

This year, Stoneham Theatre was one of the 100 grant recipients.  Stoneham Theatre, a non-profit, professional theatre company, has been bringing quality, live theatre to the Boston Metro North area for the past 13 years.  Along with Mainstage productions and concerts, Stoneham Theatre has an ever-growing young company program dedicated to providing real-world, theatrical experiences and training to students entering grades 1 – 12.  The theatre was granted $25,000 per year for the next four years to help support the young company program by creating an additional administrative position that will allow Stoneham Theatre to serve more children.

“The incredible generosity of The Cummings Foundation will make it possible for our educational programs to continue to grow and serve the children of this region,” Producing Artistic Director Weylin Symes shared.  “Our education program is a vital part of our mission as a professional regional theatre, and this level of support is invaluable to help us to do what we do.”
