Thank You to Stoneham Community for Making the Stamp Out Hunger Drive a Success

Thanks to the generosity of the Stoneham community, volunteers, supporters and, of course, the letter carriers the 2014 Stamp Out Hunger drive was a success. The Stoneham/Board of Health Food Pantry located at the First Congregational Church in Stoneham received 200 tubs of non-perishable food items to add to the pantry shelves.

“This drive is so important because the need for food assistance continues to remain strong due to high unemployment and a difficult economy, especially during the summer months,” commented Lynn Haddad, one of the managers of the food pantry.

The Stoneham Food Pantry provided groceries to 145 households consisting of 383 individuals in 2013. The food pantry clients include those who are employed, retired, unemployed or disabled, but all of whom need a little help to make ends meet. While all non-perishable foods are welcome, financial donations are also needed to buy food in bulk and take advantage of coupons. Please make checks payable to the First Congregational Church in Stoneham and write “food pantry” in the note section.  Checks can be mailed to the Church at One Church Street, Stoneham, MA 02180.
