STONEHAM STUDENTS TO APPEAR IN STONEHAM THEATRE'S SUMMER FESTIVAL

Twenty-nine Melrose students will be appearing in Stoneham Theatre’s young company Summer Festival 2013.  Stoneham Theatre’s young company offers year-round theatrical training and performing opportunities for children ages 7 – 18.  This year’s Summer Festival will showcase five musicals and one play:  Starmites Lite, Bye, Bye Birdie, The Wiz, Jekyll & Hyde, Bernarda Alba, and The Handless Maiden

Marissa Diplacido, Valerie Drew, Caitlin Henaghan, Sarah McGinness, Sydney Newcomb, Brooklyn Souza, and Juliet Wang will appear in Starmites Lite, a musical about a girl who is thrust into the world of her favorite sci-fi comic book.  Paige Bromander, Daria Contino, Natalie Daniels, Angela Dileo, Phillip Dragone, Francesca Foti, and Catrina Johnston can be seen in the classic 1960s musical, Bye, Bye Birdie, about an Elvis-like, teen superstar who turns a small town in Ohio upside-down.  The Wiz, the funky musical adaptation of The Wizard of Oz will feature Monica Courtney, Emma Fawcett, Michela Fleming, Katherine Kelley, Casey Moriarty, Edmund Pizzano, Joseph Pizzano, and Nicole Valliant.  Jekyll & Hyde, a musical retelling of the classic story about a doctor whose experiments create a murderous counterpart, will feature Alexis Bromander and Adele Leikauskas.  Brianna Johnston, Rebecca Lerman, and Zoey Michaels can be seen in Bernarda Alba, a musical which tells the tales of a powerful matriarch, who imposes a strict rule on her household following her second husband's funeral.   And Chris Depalma and Jakob Michaels will appear in an adaptation of Grimm’s fairy tale, The Handless Maiden

Stoneham Theatre’s young company Summer Festival runs from August 8, 2013 through August 18, 2013.  Tickets for adults are $15.  Student tickets are $10.  For more information, call the Stoneham Theatre Box Office at (781) 279-2200, or visit www.stonehamtheatre.org
