STONEHAM STUDENTS APPEAR ON THEIR HOMETOWN PAGE

Thirteen Stoneham students will be taking the stage at Stoneham Theatre during the theatre’s young company Winter Festival 2014.  Stoneham Theatre’s young company offers year-round theatrical training and performing opportunities for children in grades 1-12.  This year’s Winter Festival will showcase three musicals adapted from classic stories:  Charlotte’s Web, Shrek, and Winesburg, Ohio

Juliana Iannibelli, Jake Bruno, Sydney Newcomb, Carlie Lafauci, and Valerie Drew will appear in Charlotte’s Web.  Since its publication in 1952, Charlotte’s Web has numbered among America’s most beloved children’s novels.  Now, overture and act 1 students bring to life the unforgettable story of one “terrific” pig and the spider who saves him.  Featuring songs by Charles Strouse (Annie, Bye Bye Birdie), Charlotte’s Web is a musical adventure for all ages.

Casey Moriarty, Katie Kelley, Daria Contino, Joseph Pizzano, Natalie Daniels, and Monica Courtney can be seen in Shrek.  Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks® film, this musical fairytale-gone-wrong promises to get the entire family giggling.  Join our act 2 students as they tell the story of an ogre named Shrek, his sidekick, Donkey, and Princess Fiona (who isn’t exactly what she seems).  Featuring a colorful cast of your favorite fairytale figures, Shrek is a fun-filled reminder that even the most unlikely heroes can save the day.

Winesburg,Ohio, based on the novel by Sherwood Anderson, will feature Edmund Pizzano.  Winesburg,Ohio is a coming-of-age musical set in a mid-western town in the early 1900s.  The apparently ordinary citizens of Winesburg unveil their secret tragedies and joys through a beautiful folk-inspired score.  At their center is 18-year-old George, who must choose between remaining comfortably in Winesburg or pursuing his dreams.

Stoneham Theatre’s young company Winter Festival 2014 runs from January 29, 2014 through February 9, 2014.  Tickets for adults are $15.  Student tickets are $10.  Student matinees for Charlotte’s Web and Shrek are sold out; however, there are tickets available for the Winesburg, Ohio student matinee on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 10:00am.  For more information, call the Stoneham Theatre Box Office at (781) 279-2200, or visit www.stonehamtheatre.org.
