Relay for Life of Stoneham a BIG Success

Thank you Stoneham for making the second annual Relay for Life of Stoneham an awesome event! The Relay for Life raises money for the American Cancer Society. The event took place at the high school track on June 22. This fun family community event raised over $106,000 to Fight Cancer! More than four hundred participants on thirty four teams took turns walking around the track. Spectators lined the track to cheer on the walkers. The ceremony speakers, cancer survivor Nicole Raso and her caregiver, and Dad, Greg Raso both gave emotionally touching speeches. Our community Cancer Survivors walked a special lap led by the Middlesex County Honor Guard.  The youth activities were fun and exciting. There was a lot of creativity as the participants dressed up for theme laps and received prizes. The crowd had a blast doing Zumba by Lauren Guess. Bob Lee of Body Mind Systems led our Fight Back ceremony. A big THANK YOU to the committee and extraordinary volunteers who worked hard all night long to make the second annual Relay for Life a wonderful experience for all involved. Fundraising continues to August 31, 2013. The Relay Wrap Up will be held at the Stoneham Senior Center on Wednesday July 10 at 6:30pm. We hope you join us next year to continue the great success of Relay for Life of Stoneham! Relay is open to the public as well as registered participants. For more information please contact Lesley Fawcett at Lesley.Fawcett@cancer.org
