The Lakesiders Toastmasters Club of Wakefield held their annual Hat Day meeting on November 25, 2013.  Each club member brought their favorite or craziest hat to the meeting and donned it while giving a brief talk about their selection.  The Hat Day meeting provided a perfect way for members to practice their public speaking skills in an informal group setting.

Among the memorable hats on display were a 100 year old baby bonnet, a Scottish glengarry bonnet, and a beret purchased at the Eiffel Tower.  The distinction of craziest hat went to Rita Annaian, Vice President of Membership and past President.   Annaian’s hat was a yellow duck head with a bright orange bill, and was described as “a real conversation starter that caused other people to open up and talk about things they had always wanted to do."

The next Lakesiders meeting will be held on December 9th 2013 and will feature their annual Holiday Table Topics.  Members and guests are encouraged to bring a small gift-wrapped item from home.  Members will be given a chance to unwrap a gift  and speak about it for 1 to 2 minutes, providing a great opportunity for practicing impromptu speaking skills.  Items will be returned after the meeting.
