Antigone opens Feb 28th!

Sea Change Theatre Company presents Sophocles' Antigone, a contemporary horror story about truth and death.
In the aftermath of Oedipus killing his father and marrying his mother, Oedipus's two sons, Polyneices and Eteocles, die fighting each other for control of Thebes. After their deaths, Kreon assumes rulership of the kingdom and declares that the body of Polyneices, a traitor to Thebes, shall not be buried but will lie in the fields outside of the city to rot. The daughters of Oedipus rise up against this decree wanting to bury Polyneices’ body believing that every person has the right to a proper burial.  This contemporary production of the ancient Greek tragedy explores the questions of civil disobedience, unwritten laws, and human rights. Sophocles’ characters are brought to life by Julia Short of Marblehead, Laura Liberge of Saugus, Rick Boomer of Beverly, Abby Dubreuil of Beverly, Greg Warwick of Beverly, Justin Linscott of Bedford, Sonya Richards of Worcester, John Melczer of Salem, Amanda Collins of Beverly, Andrew Beauparlant of Gloucester, and Mike Gove of Beverly.  The Greek Chorus will be played by child actors:  Caela Flanagan, Cheyenne Beauparlant, Natalie Good, Heather Beauparlant, Natalia Grishin, and Isaac Beauparlant.  Antigone will run February 28 through March 15 in the performance space inside Dane Street Church, 10 Dane Street, Beverly, MA, 01915.

Antigone  show dates are February 28 and March 1, 7, 8, and 14, 15.  Friday shows’ curtains rise at 8 p.m., and Saturday shows begin at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Please, contact the box office for ticket information (978) 500-3885 or info@seachangetheatre.com.   This two act tragedy runs 100 minutes and is supported in part by a grant from the Beverly Cultural Council, a local agency that is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
