Build Day 2 Volunteers needed

Volunteers needed for August 24 to help at Community Build Day 2 to rebuild AP Rounds Playground in Stoneham.

Community Build Day 2 on August 24

Rebuilding Rounds, the local mom-led non-profit, reached their final goal!  They’ve raised enough to purchase a large “big-kid” structure (geared towards 5-12 year olds), and have announced a build day of August 24th, less than five weeks away.   A huge thanks goes to the The Cummings Foundation (http://www.cummingsfoundation.org/) for awarding Rebuilding Rounds, along with several other Stoneham  child-based non-profits, a large grant.  It helped close the gap quickly along with ongoing community support

100 Volunteers Needed

They are looking for nearly 100 volunteers!   They hope it will be a fun and productive day, and the fact the first build day on May 18th went quite smoothly bodes well. The equipment company will send out a representative and the structure building will be the primary focus.  As one might guess, strong volunteers handy with tools will be needed for that aspect, but there is much more to do!

Volunteer slots are open for construction and safety, welcoming arrivals and staffing the “information desk”, serving refreshments, childcare, and clean-up. There will be a job for any age and skill level!  This event should fulfill community service requirements for scouting and other clubs, could be a good morale building volunteer initiative for businesses, and is simply a good way to meet your neighbors and make new friends.

The main goal on August 24th will be to set up the big-kid structure and a couple of smaller satellite items like a see-saw.  There will be some peripheral projects like hanging new swings, putting up signs and placards, and the non-profit is open to landscaping and art installation proposals, too.  A fencing company has volunteered to install a brand new gate when the project is complete.

Rebuilding Rounds would like to thank Town Hall and the residents and businesses of Stoneham and other nearby towns who have provided encouragement, support, and partnerships so far.  They couldn’t have done it without you!  To sign up to help on build day or to volunteer in general: http://www.slyreply.com/app/sheets/4jie8nj1h0gt/
