Farmers Market, Farm Shares in Stoneham

Where can you find fresh, seasonal produce in Stoneham? Explore two options almost as fresh as your backyard garden.

Down to a single supermarket in town many of us are heading to neighboring communities to find fresh produce on our weekly grocery runs. In the last few years though our options have vastly improved.

Our Own Farmers Market

Starting up again on June 14 we have the right in the heart of downtown on the organic lawn of Stoneham Common. Shoppers can swing by between 2-6 p.m. and grab locally grown produce - much of it picked earlier that same day.

Local Farm Shares

Did you know that Stoneham has a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) drop-off too? Members prepay for a season's worth of organic fruits and vegetables through central Massachusetts' farmers Heavens Harvest Farm. Once a week, all season long, members' shares are dropped off at local site host location,  on Main Street. What makes this particularly interesting is that it runs year round.

Eating Seasonally

Summer is full of a never-ending discovery of what nature has to offer for the dinner plate. To get a well-rounded gastronomical experience consider trying one new recipe or produce item each week throughout the summer. As items come available in their height of perfection this summer you'll wonder if fresh herbs ever tasted this good, or how fantastic the fruit is, and how flavorful young vegetables can be.

What is your favorite fruit or vegetable this time of year?
