30 People Show Up for the Greenway
Thank you again Stoneham! This Saturday more than 30 people showed up to help clean up a small section of the Greenway between Pomeworth and Central Streets. The group took out many truck loads of Japanese Knotweed, an invasive week that is cropping up around Stoneham.
In addition to the Japanese Knotweed, the trail was widened to make it easier to traverse and many bags of trash were removed. While working, we were excited to see local residents using the trail. They were thrilled to hear the trail will be built out next year.
I would also like to send a big THANK YOU to Bill and Kyle from the DPW who joined us on the clean up. It was helpful to have someone to truck away all the weeds, a huge load of recycling and the trash bags. We also appreciated all the hard work with the string trimmer and lawn mower to clear the path.
If you get a chance, take a walk on a nice evening now that the area is cleaned up!
