EMARC and Marathon Sports's Annual 5K runs through downtown Melrose and coincides with the opening of the Melrose Victorian Fair. Proceeds from the run benefit EMARC's recreation program for adults and children with disabilities.
The 5K is professionally chip timed and USA Track and Field sanctioned. Kids can race in a 1/2 mile fun run which starts at 9:30 am. The 5K for runners starts at 10:00 a.m. and walkers start at 10:05 a.m. Both races begin and end next to the Melrose Family YMCA located at 497 Main Street.
Registration fees are $20 for the 5K ($25 after September 1st). Kids run for free with a parent registration and community organizations are encouraged to run or walk as a group.
