You have things in your life that you have never completed. Some might be mundane such as not cleaning out the closet. Some might be more substantive such as not completing college. Some might be more profound like not completing a marriage.
At the time, not completing the thing in question seemed like a good idea. You said to yourself that you’ll do it tomorrow, you were too tired, the project is too big, the relationship didn’t make you happy or some other reason.
Here’s the hard truth. Add up the ultimate results of not completing all these things in your life and what do you have? Nothing.
You don't receive the results of your completed goal. You don't get the confidence of completing a task or a goal. You don't feel the happiness and satisfaction of completing a task.
Instead you neither have results or confidence and you feel bad.
You may know individuals whose entire life is a series of incompletions.
What prevents most people from completing tasks? Lack of willpower, meaning, patience, focus or discipline.
How do you get more of these traits? You can be trained to develop these mental traits. It usually takes time and effort on the individual’s part.
The most profound, challenging, meaningful and highest level of understanding and achievement don’t come to you without your earning them. There are no shortcuts to this fact of life. Many live in a world where they feel a lack of deeper understanding and achievement and have fooled themselves into thinking such things aren’t important.
If that’s the case, then why do these same individuals don’t talk about life with a passion and great enjoyment? It’s because they don’t have the passion and great enjoyment of life. If that’s not an important reason for completing things, then what is?
