Here is the latest press release from our group about rebuilding AP Rounds Playground in Stoneham:
Rebuilding Rounds, the local mom-led non-profit, has reached a milestone in their goal of renovating the playground at the corner of Broadway and McArthur streets. They’ve raised enough to purchase a toddler structure, and have announced a build day of May 18th, starting at 9am.
Already about forty volunteers have signed up, but they are looking for many more! They hope it will be a fun and productive day. The structure building will be the primary focus. As one might guess, strong volunteers handy with tools will be needed for that aspect, but there is much more to do!
Volunteer slots are open for planting and landscaping, collecting donations , directing new arrivals and teams, serving refreshments, childcare, working on potential art installations, and more. There will be a job for any age and skill level! This event should fulfill community service requirements for scouting and other clubs, could be a good morale building volunteer initiative for businesses, and is simply a good way to meet your neighbors and make new friends.
The main goal on May 18th will be to set up the toddler structure and to polish the appearance of the park in general—paint and replace the swings, do some landscaping, and spruce up some of the remaining equipment. The ultimate goal is to also purchase a large structure for school-aged children and the group is open to other ideas as well. Hopes are that this large step will motivate and inspire the community and show everyone that major progress is being made. So keep spreading the word and keep the donations coming!
Rebuilding Rounds would like to thank Town Hall and the residents and businesses of Stoneham and other nearby towns who have provided encouragement, support, and partnerships so far. They couldn’t have done it without you!
