Let's Work together for the Common Good of Massachusetts
On Thursday, January 31st, the Massachusetts Republican State Committee voted to elect Mrs. Kristen Hughes as the next Chair of the Republican party. Mrs. Hughes is an attorney, who currently serves as a City Councilor in Quincy. Although, I recently posted my support for her opponent Mr. Rick Green of Pepperell, I trust that she will work with all members of the Statecommittee to support candidates at all levels.
I am fully aware that the outcome does not fall on Mrs. Hughes shoulders alone. Actually, it is a collective effort of the Statecommittee and local city committees that partly determines if a candidate succeeds. Let me, Robert Aufiero, of the Melrose Republican City Committee, be the first to hold myself accountable for helping candidates and promoting conservative principles. Yes, I am a conservative.
Many Republicans, as well as Democrats and Independents, are convinced that it is not enough to just elect candidates. We need to promote core values that have made America strong. The individual person and family are the bedrock of society which the government is suppose to serve. Which is why you will hear conservatives in both political parties speak of individual liberty and personal responsibility.
The core values that have made America great are rooted in Judeo-Christian principles. Such principles guided our founding fathers when they framed the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Although not all candidates for public office are either Jewish or Christian, they should be committed to helping us preserve those values that have made America strong.
Finally, both Mrs. Hughes and Mr. Green promised to work together and asked their supporters to do the same. I know that I will do my part to help candidates. I hope that those who think the same way will do likewise.

This is garbage. Christians love to try to claim that this country was founded on their values. It was most certainly not. The founding fathers went well out of their way to make it clear that it was not, and there is only a small overlap between some of the values expressed in the christian bible and the Bill of Rights. If this country HAD been founded upon christian values, we would be raping and murdering people left and right for the very same things that we consider to be basic human rights.
It is amazing that members of the horrible disgusting Republican party even dare to show their faces in public. You are disgusting people.

As for the religous foundations of this country, read the Declaration of Independence. There you will see the powers vested in the government for the people come from the people and from a God.... The inalienable rights are from above, not from the "raping and murdering" revolutionaries. Leeroy, your comments were offensive....

Tolerance? The only thing I won't tolerate is others intolerance, and theists are the king of that. I mean to be offensive, just as the theists offend me on a daily basis with statements like those posted above.
The Declaration of Independence only mentions "Nature's God", which does not necessarily entail the christian god, or for that matter any sort of deity; in the same way that when a power line is struck by lightning, it is deemed an "act of god". We don't actually think that some mythical creature in the sky decided it was time to take down that power line. "Nature's God" is simply referring to the natural order of things.

Leeroy's dysfunctional rant indicates a far deeper problem than can be dealt with on Patch. Please seek help. Life is too short to hate as deeply as you appear to hate. Also, keep in mind that oversimplification is not an answer to complex issues!

Could you possibly explain those statements? What am I oversimplifying? Claiming that one whom disagrees with you to be dysfunctional or emotionally unstable is just a lame cop-out from dealing with the statements being made. My life is going just fine. One does not need to be unstable or unhappy to feel this way about Republicans or theists; A LOT of people feel the same way.
