It seems that Martin Luther King Jr. Day will have the usual closings (schools, banks, the post office, government offices and many area barber shops/salons). However, most area restaurants, shopping centers, gas stations and places of business will be open.

Patch recommends calling any business or restaurant not listed below to double-check to see if they are open or closed on Monday, Jan. 16. Here's a look at what places will be open and closed for the holiday:
