Skin to Soul Offers More at its New Location
Nicole Russo's massage therapy business has come a long way over the past five years and now offers a variety of health care and life-improvement services.
From employment as a supply-chain engineer to a single-room massage therapy service to a full-scale self-improvement center, Nicole Russo has come a long way and is doing what she loves.
Last week, Russo celebrated the reopening of her business, Skin to Soul, which has moved to a larger space at the same address, 380 Montvale Ave. #380. And on Monday, yoga classes got underway.
Russo worked as a part-time massage therapist for five years before leaving her job as a supply-chain engineer a year ago to perform the work full-time.
Initially, all Russo had was a single room with a massage table.
“Originally, I just had massage here,” Russo said. “Somebody came in one time and said, ‘Oh, I used to work in this building. This was our storage closet.’”
Russo eventually moved to a larger space with a small office and waiting area in the same Montvale Avenue facility before taking another step forward by moving into an even larger space, one with four massage rooms, a yoga studio, a meditation room, a reception area and its own bathroom.
Russo said that she is much happier now, running her own business than she was as an engineer.
“I really like helping people, I’ve always wanted to help people, and I’m really glad to be doing (that),” she said.
While the new center, which offers expanded services, has only been open for one week, Russo said that business has been good.
“The massage business is great,” she said, “but we really need to get people in here for yoga.”
In its new location, Skin to Soul offers a variety of yoga classes on a flexible schedule for individuals of all ages and experience levels.
“I want the yoga studio to be accessible to everybody,” Russo said. “I don’t want people to feel like they have to be a pretzel to come in.”
Russo employs five yoga instructors, two mental health counselors, a sound therapist, and a life coach, which means that in addition to massage and yoga, Skin to Soul offers an expanded menu of healthcare and life-improvement services.
