POLL: Should BYOB Hosts be Held Liable for Underage Drinking?
The Supreme Judicial Court ruled a Bay State party's hosts were not liable for underage "bring your own booze" (BYOB) drinking at their home. Should hosts be held civilly responsible when their guests make mistakes?
Recently, the commonwealth's Supreme Judicial Court ruled a Bay State party's hosts were not liable for underage "bring your own booze" (BYOB) drinking.
With that in mind, we'd like to know: Do you agree that residents who host BYOB parties should not be held liable if underage guests drive drunk and cause injuries, death, or damage?
Let us know by taking our poll and posting a comment.

That ruling is WAAAAAY too broad, and that was a particularly terrible test case (it's unclear to me from reading that article whether the 18 year old defendant was the primary resident or it was a parent's home).
IMO, you are responsible for what happens in your home, and if you have minors in your home, you're responsible for them unless their parent is present.

Am I reading this poll wrong? It is asking if hosts should be held liable.
First choice is YES. They should not be expected to police their guests etc.
The choices do not make sense in the way you vote.
