MBTA, Traffic Affected by Salem Street Work

Attention Stoneham drivers: Re-paving of the busy Woburn Road will be underway Wednesday and Thursday.

Salem Street in nearby Woburn is undergoing a makeover. But in order to get pretty, it will get a little ugly first.

Woburn Police advised motorists Tuesday that traffic, including MBTA buses and stops, will be impacted Wednesday and Thursday.

Work crews will continue re-paving Salem Street between Main and Beach streets Wednesday, before moving onto the area between Beach and Wood streets Thursday.

Motorists should seek alternate routes during the construction as there will be detours and delays. Work begins at 7 a.m.

On Thursday, MBTA bus riders who use Bow and Salem street stops will need to go to corner of Wood and Salem streets to be picked up. Woburn Police reports that the MBTA will put out horses with the "T" logo as a temporary stop.

When the work crews finish with Salem Street, they will move onto Traverse and Ward streets.
