Hadrava Exceling at Axiom Drummer's Place

Libor Hadrava, owner and instructor at AXIOM Drummer's Place, just had series of video lessons picked up by "Drum! Magazine," one of the biggest magazines in the business.

Libor Hadrava always knew “practice makes perfect” and with his hard work at , he recently had a series of videos picked up by one of the biggest magazines in the music industry.

“I always believed that talent itself is not enough and ever since I was a child I would hear 'practice makes perfect' from my family and teachers. So getting my lessons picked up by "Drum! Magazine" (is) confirmation of my belief and hard work,” Hadrava said. “It also means that I can share what I learnt over the decades with a broad audience.”

Hadrava was raised in a musical family where his mother used to be a singer and a violinist.

“The other side of the family also had a lot of teachers in the past. It became natural for me to become a music teacher, so I sort of eased into teaching, it felt natural to me,” Hadrava said. “I started playing violin and I couldn’t switch to drums until I was 10 years old, but once I tried it, I couldn’t stop. I just knew that it was the instrument I wanted to play forever.”

While Hadrava is receiving much recognition all over the industry, he indicated that there is a lot of work that goes into his day.

“Teaching can be challenging work at times, but for me it comes rather naturally. I am really doing the job that I love. As much as I love gigging, with teaching comes a great deal of satisfaction,” Hadrava said. “Nothing feels better than seeing your student become a professional musician and you know that you helped to develop this talented student. At AXIOM we always go the extra mile to get anyone serious about music to achieve their dreams and if it works out, that feels great!”

Hadrava was humble when asked what his favorite aspect of teaching and the industry was.

“That would be easy: The possibility to meet great, interesting and inspiring people. When I was a teenager, I would have never dreamt of talking to Mike Mangini or study with Jon Hazilla,” Hadrava said. “Also, I am working closely with Silverfox and Grover Pro Percussion, a great company that supplies me with drumsticks, drums and percussion.

“Another great company that I closely cooperate with is Dream Cymbals and they're an amazing team of people pioneering new lines of cymbals. So, it is really a mix of companies and people working with them.”
