A Little Bit of Paradise at Helaine Marie Salon

Recently, Stoneham Patch put the call out to our readers in search of their favorite local salon and based on their feedback one stood out from the pack: Helaine Marie Salon.

Helaine Marie Salon, which recently relocated to 366 Main St., offers its clientele several different services including corrective coloring, multi-dimensional foils, hair cuts, styling services, Keratin Complex Smoothing System, Brazilian Keratin straightening, perms, waxing and other services, according to the company's website.

The salon, which is owned by Helaine Marie Buonopane, features independent contractor stylists who are working in a larger space than the original 200 square foot location.

While the location may have changed, the services appear to be just fine, according to our readers' input.

"This is by far the best hair salon in and around Stoneham," wrote Mary Pupa. "I am a regular customer and have been for at least seven years, and never once disappointed. Helaine is a genius with color!"

Maine resident Kerry Cooper makes the hours-long trek south to Stoneham just to get her hair cared for by Helaine Marie.

"I’m writing to let you know Helaine Marie’s hair salon...is so terrific, I drive 153 miles round-trip from Wells, Maine every 5 weeks to have my hair colored and cut by Lainie Buonopane," wrote Cooper. "When I first found Lainie two years ago, my hair was damaged and the colors were too many to describe.

"Lainie worked her magic, got my hair healthy and the color exactly how I believed it could be. Every woman knows, a great hair style affords her a wonderful boost in confidence!"

Dale Fulton, a longtime customer of Helaine Marie's, wrote how impressed he was with not only the hair care but the accommodating nature of the business.

"I have been going to Lainie for several years and have been extremely happy with cut, color, foils and price," Fulton said. "Like many, I have a busy schedule and am not always able to accurately plan my next appointment, but Lainie is always willing to accommodate me. Her clients’ satisfaction is Lainie’s first priority."

In an email to Stoneham Patch, Acton resident Carole Seidenpfennig raved about the services and also the "bright, cheerful and relaxing" feel of the Main Street salon.

"Lainie is a terrific hair stylist who takes the time to really listen about what you want and gives sound advice about cut and color – what would look good and what wouldn’t," wrote Seidenpfennig. "She is friendly and is completely client orientated. Her clients come first. Her prices are extremely competitive and the one thing she does not compromise on is quality."
