Stoneham Theatre is Nominated for Eight Awards
Stoneham Theatre has a lot to celebrate. The Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) have recently nominated the theatre for 8 awards. Beverly Creasey of The Boston Arts Review and Larry Stark of The Theater Mirror founded the IRNE Awards in 1997. Each year, the IRNE Awards celebrate theatre excellence in the Boston area.
Stoneham Theatre’s Season 13 opener, Lumberjacks in Love, has been nominated for four IRNEs. Erik Diaz is nominated for “Best Set Design” for turning the Stoneham stage into a Wisconsin log cabin. Steve Barkhimer has been nominated for “Best Musical Director,” as well as “Best Supporting Actor in a Musical.” And Barkhimer’s castmate, Harry McEnerny, has also been nominated in the “Best Supporting Actor in a Musical” category.
Actress Margaret Ann Brady is nominated for “Best Supporting Actress in a Musical” for her wise-cracking portrayal of Jeanette in The Full Monty. Colin Breslin scored a “Best Performance by a Promising Young Actor” nomination, and the entire cast of The Full Monty has been recognized with a “Best Ensemble” nomination.
Rounding out the list, Richard Chambers is nominated for “Best Set Design” for the beautiful interior or an English castle he created in I Capture the Castle.
The IRNE Awards Committee has not yet announced the date for its annual awards ceremony.
